Frequently asked questions
What size should I buy?
There are usually 2 sizes to choose from:
- Small (3 cups) This size is perfect for the small trofast bin or to add to smaller trays and containers.
- Large (5 cups) This size works great for the Inspire My Play tray or large trofast bin (as fit in the Flisat table), or even a large roasting tray!
- Extra large sharing pack (9 cups)
Available soon for those of you buying to use in a Nursery, classroom or childcare setting. Just please send me an email if you are interested in this before I get them on the website!
This is for Tuff Tray set ups or larger sensory, sand or water trays.
If you’re not quite sure which size is right for you, refer to our size guides. They’re located in the product descriptions under each product.
How long does it take to receive my order?
Production times vary but are typically within 7-10 business days. We aim to therefore make sure that you have your order within 2 weeks.
In busy periods, such as the run up to Christmas, it may take a little longer. Please bear with me as everything is handmade!
Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email letting you know that we have received your order. Once your order is fulfilled, you will receive an email notification with your tracking information.
We can only ship within domestic UK mainland borders at this time.
Can I cancel my order?
We completely get it, we change our minds too! While we wish could, once an order is placed, we are unable to alter or cancel it at this time because these are handcrafted items and made to order.
If there is a problem with the quality of your order however or it has been damaged in transit then please take photos and email them to sharon@timetoplaysensory.com, and we will of course replace or refund the item(s).
What ingredients are used in your sensory mixes?
Our mixes contain a range of materials which vary depending on the individual product. However, ingredients that we may use in our sensory mixes include rice, chickpeas, pasta, lentils, popcorn, beans, pearl cous cous and other grains, vinegar, hand sanitiser, water, resin pieces, acrylic charms and small wooden pieces. We always use non-toxic acrylic paint.
Please refer to the individual product description on each product page for specifics. Our products are all handmade. Whilst we aim to work in a nut-free environment, there is the possibility of traces of nut products being present. Should you or your family have a severe allergy (nut or otherwise), please check in with us before purchasing a particular product at sharon@timetoplaysensory.com for further guidance.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is calculated based on your location and the items in your order. You will always know the shipping price before you purchase.
If you live in or near Bishop's Stortford and want to collect your item in person from me, there will be an option to do so for free at checkout.

Do you use anything toxic when making the sensory mixes or sealing wooden items?
No, absolutely not!
Our wooden products are painted with non-toxic acrylic paint and sealed with a water-based, non-toxic sealant. The acrylic paint that we use is always non-toxic.
Please note that all our products are educational resources that are not for consumption and should not be consumed or mouthed. Therefore all our products are rated as 3+.
All our products are suitable for ages 3+ and are designed to be used for educational purposes only and with close adult supervision. Time to Play Sensory accepts no liability for any harm caused by products used in ways that contravene this.
WARNINGS:
CHOKING HAZARD – contains small parts. Not suitable for children under 3 years.
